Our Department and its Research Mission:
Entomology Excellence Fund
The Department of Entomology is moving towards an exciting new future! Your support for this discretionary fund will help us direct resources where needed most as we build the department and it research, teaching and outreach programs.
Entomology Research Fund
Your support helps us direct money for immediate mission critical activities. Some of the important outcomes from this fund include, additional support for new faculty as they set up new laboratories, re-tooling existing labs or purchasing shared equipment to expand our abilities, and creating materials for use in classrooms and for the general public in our education programs.
Insect Museum Fund
The acquisitions to our insect collection are growing! Which means the space to store these specimens is dramatically shrinking. To help with the space crisis, your support would help install a storage compactor to double the storage space without tearing down walls!

Insect Science Pathways Scholarship
Your gift will help us enhance diversity of undergraduates in the Insect Science Minor.
Morris and Elaine Soffer Rockstein Fellowship Fund
Your gift helps us attract graduate students to the Department of Entomology. Double your donation, through the Graduate School Match program!
Marion Brooks-Wallace Graduate Fellowship Fund
Your gift ensures a supply of outstanding entomologists, who receive additional experiences and training outside their core project during their graduate education. Double your donation, through the Graduate School Match program!
Lugger-Radcliffe Fellowship Fund
To support a prospective or current graduate student enrolled at the University according to the following criteria: a) full-time, b) graduate students working toward their M.S. or Ph.D. degrees, c) or, prospective M.S. or Ph.D. graduate students being recruited, d) enrolled, or soon to be enrolled in the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences (or current college), e) studying entomology, f) demonstrating academic excellence, g) and research interests in sustainable integrated pest management (IPM), including applied ecology of arthropod pests within agricultural or forest ecosystems, which may also include research on pollinator health.
Dr. Allan G. Peterson Fellowship Fund
Fellowship support for Masters degree students in the Entomology Department.
Robert C. Hodson Memorial Undergraduate Entomology Fund
Fund is to be used to recognize outstanding undergraduate students in the Department of Entomology, who have demonstrated a keen interest in arthropod biology, via their research experience in the Department of Entomology and excellent academic performance. Research experience can be demonstrated as co-authorship on publications, the presentation of research results at one or more scientific meetings, and/or a letter or recommendation confirming their lab/field research abilities by their primary advisor (faculty, staff or graduate student). Students enrolled in the Entomology minor are encouraged to apply, but this is not a requirement of the award.
Hodson Graduate Alumni Award Fund
Award for alumni that have received their highest degree in an entomological program from the University of Minnesota at least five years before nomination.
Teaching and Outreach:
Sping and Ying N. Lin Fund for Teaching and Outreach in Entomology Fund
To provide support to the University of Minnesota and its College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences for programming to engage students and the public in entomology through outreach and educational activities.
Let's Beat the Bug Fund
Support of research, teaching and outreach activities that improve pest prevention and control tactics for keeping pests out of homes, schools, restaurants, stores and food packaging plants. Examples of pests that cause problems for people on a daily basis include: beg bugs, cockroaches, ants, pantry pests, mice and rats.
